How CATHARSIS = A New Model for Mental Healthcare
Introducing our new market analysis chart
With so many options for mental healthcare available, especially in places like Nashville, do we really need a new one?
The fact that so many people are still struggling leads me to say a resounding Yes.
In general, there is a large gap between high-quality, long-term care—which people can access if they have plenty of money or good insurance, a commodity that is becoming increasingly rare—and crisis management, which is affordable but typically consists of stop-gap measures.
Those of us working to launch CATHARSIS Nashville aren’t just hoping to build another resource: we truly do want to change how mental healthcare happens.
From __________ . . . To ___________
Clinical settings that often feel sterile —> Cozy, beautiful, home-like atmosphere
Fees of $100-400 —> Pay what you can, the rest is free
Treatment modalities that are “siloed” —> Holistic approach, all in one place (therapy, medication management, bodywork, music/art, prayer/meditation)
Therapists are often interns, with frequent turnover —> Highly experienced, well paid therapists and other practitioners who work as a team
There are many wonderful resources already in place, and we applaud their good work. And, we want to create a new model that is the first of its kind, as well as being the only center with a dedicated focus on Highly Sensitive Persons.
Here’s how CATHARSIS will be different from what’s already here. (The pink squares indicate “Yes”; white squares mean “no” or “mostly no”; and yellow squares mean “kind of” or “it depends”).
I hope you find this chart helpful in visualizing why CATHARSIS will be such an important, and overdue, addition to the therapeutic landscape. We can’t wait to get started!
